Your responsibilities will include;

  • Providing excellent administrative support.
  • Using tact and diplomacy to ensure queries are recorded and dealt with efficiently, referring them to senior staff where appropriate. 
  • Ensuring databases are maintained and information is up to date.
  • Managing Social Worker diaries and scheduling meetings, visits, and reminders.
  • Ensuring key meetings such as Child Protection conferences, Legal Strategy, High Risk Strategy and Public Law Outline are minuted.
  • Assisting in financial administration.
  • Organising transport for social workers and children and their families.
  • Preparing, quality assuring and filing court documents and reports for Child Protection, Legal Strategy Meeting and Core Group meetings etc.
  • Advising social workers of local resources for families and how to access them.
  • Updating key partner agencies regarding any changes to key information regarding individual cases as per good practice guidance.

Essential Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Good IT knowledge including Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Previous general administrative experience.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to work alone and as part of a team and understand the need for contribution and flexibility.
  • Well-developed analytical skills to assess and prioritise levels of urgency.
  • Diplomatic and sensitive approach to callers, some who may be irate or distressed.
  • Ability to be confident and assertive in an appropriate manner, whilst remaining calm under pressure.

Working conditions of the role may include:

  • Manual handling of objects up to 5kg, more than once a day
  • Display screen equipment user
